Jónsi - Go (2010)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jónsi's first solo album is a glorious explosion of jubilee and optimism and all things happy and wonderful. It is much more youthful and lively than Sigur Rós, kind of like a fairy-tale in musical form; it has all of the fantastic childish imagination as Max, from Where the Wild Things Are, and respect for the balance of nature as Hayao Miyazaki.
I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert last week, and Jónsi's performance is simultaneous indigenous and post-apocalyptic, juvenescent, luminescent, and wonderfully hopeful (with just the right about of tragedy). I was hopelessly smiley and on the verge of tears the entire show. I imagine Jónsi has the power to restore faith in the world in the most hapless and cynical of people. The music was enlightening, the artwork spectacular, the drummer absolutely insane (does anyone know his name? I would very much like to know). The best show I've been to in awhile (possibly ever), and I've been to a good number of shows...
If Gods exist Jónsi is definitely one of them.

Album: 9/10
